just wanted to say hello to everyone on this forum.
i've "lurked" for quite some time, thought it was time make my first post.
my story is long and boring and too complicated to remember so the short version is this:.
Welcome! Come on in have a seat & stay awhile!

have you ever met someone and for some unknown reason this person just rubs you the wrong way ,i don't know if it's a vibe they give off or what but something that makes you dislike about that person.
my son who is 21 started to date this girl and there is something about her i so much dislike and i can't help the way i feel.
i have 4 grown kids all have dated and brought there dates home and i was receptive to them all but i cannot to this girl.
Hi KLS
What a predicament....I've always learned to trust my gut on things, even tho I don't always listen to it until its too late. I would probably just take a step back in this one & observe. Perhaps what is bugging you about this girl will show itself to you in time. Unless she's got horns & a tail (possible?) just learn to smile & nod your head until you figure out what it is.
Good luck!

so many posters and most communicate either on this site or have the pleasure to meet in person and know much of some posters lives ,but for thos who don't ( like me ) let's share some of our lives with others,,, .
are you married or single?
= me married .
Are you married or single? = Divorced....
Do you have children ? = I have 2...one boy 4 years old and one girl almost 16
Do you have pets? = yes, I have 2..one boy 4 years old and one girl almost 16.......ok ok...we have a cat & a fish
What are your hobbies? = My kids, reading, art, gardening
Are you a grandparent? = Not yet thank God....I have been promised that I will not be a grandmother for a few more years. I'm holding her to that and have taken to locking her bedroom door & providing meals into the little slot I've installed in her door so she can't leave.
SK....
last night my daughter (8 years old) came down to the bed with a belly ache.
she has a couple of legit issues which cause belly aches beyond the regular kid stuff.
her poor little face grimaces in pain.. so i had her get into bed, got out my iriver mp3 player, put one of my ear-buds in her ear and one in mine and we listened to music and i rubbed her belly and tapped out the songs we were listening to.
I have a 4 year old and a 16 year old...
With the 16 year old I enjoy hearing how I'm easy to talk to and she can share anything with me (except the new hickey on her neck, but I digress)...she tells me that I'm the coolest mom.
The 4 year old climbing up into my lap to watch a movie, or running ahead of me, only to stop, turn around & say "mommy!!" while running to me with his arms open wide.
When he's happy to see me when I pick him up from his dad's house
When he and his sister fight & drive each other crazy despite the age difference
When he & his sister love each other so much it makes my heart swell
When he and his sister hang out in her room and she makes him comfortable & lets him watch movies in there and he sits on HER lap & watches a movie
Kids are great..wouldn't change any of it!

hey all,.
we have to decide in the next hour or so, so a quick response would be appreciated!.
the vet says that our 13-year-old cat is suffering.
I'm with Jane...I had a cat, my daughters cat really, who had cancer in his face. The vet told me that as long as he was "ok" ie: eating, socializing, etc he would be fine, but once he started on the downslide then we'd have to make a decision. He stuck it out for awhile and my daughter was happy, but really, I let him go longer than I should have for my own selfish reasons. Cats do hide their pain well, and when it was apparent that he was dying, it was clear he was suffering and had been. I'm for putting him down now. Maybe have your son visit at the vets office, but make it clear to him that these things happen and the cat will be much happier when he's no longer in pain.
Sorry to hear about your cat by the way, it can be hard to lose a cat and it's really hard to make that final decision. But the cat will appreciate it, I know mine did.

as most of you know by now i have told you that my mom has been a "devout" jw for over 40 years and i can't get her to budge.
well the last time we debated she left me totally confused and in a daze.
i did some fast research and this past sunday we had a free-for-all debate that lasted 5 hours.
It's only natural for a son to want to protect his mother. You did what you had to do. You did your best. You know what's real and what isn't.
((hug))

well i finally have stopped to say hello.
i have been searching this site for a few months now and finding some interesting information, for now i am still a jw, confused as ever, feeling like my life is going to end and jehovah will take all the good in my life away by joining this forum.
i have so many concerns and as you all know have no one to talk to.
Welcome!! Make yourself at home...enjoy the site & feel free to ask away!! You'll get lots of help & support here!

i am so glad to have found this site .
i was not raised a jehovah's witness.
i studied as a teenager with my boyfriend's sister.
Jez...you and our Newbie Adelmaal give me great hope with my 4 year old. I'm doing exactly the same thing...in the capacity a 4 year old can handle. We go to church, he will have both sides and when the time comes to when he can truely understand, I plan to have the same strategy you both are having with your kids. Right now he understands it's ok to have birthdays (having just celebrated his 4th) and Christmas, etc. I play it gentle with him now, but let him understand that people are different, and that his dad believes differently and that's ok. So far so good.
Thanks!

It's drama when she wants to celebrate holidays, salute the flag, have worldly friends, etc. at school and when she is with us and yet she will get in trouble for doing those things when her dad or his family (he's 33 and still lives with them) finds out. She is too young to take a stand over there because she will get in trouble, get lectured and be made to feel bad. So I think she just tries to lead a double life and lie to them about it. So then they think we are forcing her to do things that bother her conscience. It's drama! It's not right and they expect everyone else to bow to their way of doing things while they are completely intolerant of any other way of doing things. They always play the "it means her everlasting life" card. Can you tell I'm frustrated... My daughter is being pulled in two different directions and I just keep telling her that her dad's house and our house are different. We have different beliefs. It is good to be exposed to different ways of doing things and when you are old enough you will decide how you want to do things in your house. I let her know we love and support her decisions and we will accept her no matter what she decides. I let her know she is not allowed to get baptized until she is 18 though because she is not old enough to decide how she wants to live the rest of her life. I know her dad and his family have an altogether different view though and they tell her she will die or she will displease Jehovah if she doesn't do things there way. I just don't quite know how to deal with such powerful arguments and daily teachings...
WOW...we are in the same boat!! That's almost word for word what I put in my last letter to my ex. I'm not a JW but we have a son, and my ex got back into the "fold" after we split. (he was born & raised) He does the same thing with my son, (who's only 4) but look what I get to look forward to when it comes time for school! Not only that, but he too, lives at home with his parents, his new wife & new son!! I'm here for you if you want to PM me, maybe we could share support for our kids!! On that note, do you have a lawyer?? Check with him/her & find out what your options are. Mine has told me that forcing the beliefs on the kid is not right and you might be able to revisit the 50/50 thing, which is where we are headed. Just a thought!
Welcome to the forum!! Glad you're here!
